In recent days, the Orihuela Local Police have carried out a series of operations that have resulted in the arrest of several individuals for alleged crimes against property, public health, and outstanding judicial warrants. These actions were made possible thanks to ongoing surveillance and control efforts across various parts of the municipality, as well as vital assistance from members of the public.
One incident occurred following a call from a citizen who reported seeing a woman attempting to break into parked vehicles on a public street. A police patrol quickly located a person matching the provided description, who was identified by the caller. Upon checking her identity, officers discovered she had an active arrest warrant with a prison sentence pending. She was immediately detained, informed of her rights, and taken into police custody.
In a separate operation, another patrol intercepted a van during a routine checkpoint in the Villamartín area of Orihuela Costa. The vehicle had tried to avoid the control but was eventually stopped and searched. Inside, officers found two boxes containing a large quantity of what appeared to be marijuana, along with a precision scale and vacuum-sealing equipment.
The total weight of the seized substance exceeded seven kilograms. The vehicle’s occupants were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Additionally, on May 24, during another traffic control in the town center, officers stopped a high-end foreign vehicle carrying two undocumented individuals. Upon checking the vehicle’s chassis number, authorities confirmed it had been reported stolen and flagged in international databases.
The driver also lacked a valid driver’s license. Both individuals were arrested and handed over to the Civil Guard. During the same operation, officers also found a key belonging to a second stolen vehicle. All items were placed under judicial custody.
These incidents highlight the importance of coordinated police efforts and community cooperation in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law throughout Orihuela.
