San Javier invests €400K to crack down on crime and keep tourists safe this summer
LA MANGA DEL MAR MENOR – Watch out, wrongdoers—La Manga’s getting its own fully loaded police station, and it’s here to stay.
After years of residents asking, San Javier has finally answered the call. A brand-new Local Police HQ is on the way, and it’s bringing round-the-clock protection to one of Spain’s most famous holiday hotspots. With an eye-popping €400,000 price tag, this state-of-the-art command centre is set to supercharge security in the area—and just in time for the tourist season.
Located at kilometer 6 of Gran Vía, in the plush Manga Beach complex, the new 230-square-meter station will have everything—cells, armory, interview rooms, and even dedicated space for victims of gender violence and vulnerable residents. It’s the real deal.
“It’s a game-changer for La Manga,” declared Mayor José Miguel Luengo during a site visit with officials this week. “Until now, our officers wasted precious time commuting to change shifts. That ends now.”
The new setup means cops won’t be coming and going—they’ll be stationed permanently, laser-focused on keeping La Manga safe 24/7.
“La Manga is long and busy—we needed this,” added local mayor José Guerrero. “Now residents and tourists alike will not only be safe, but they’ll feel safe. That matters.”
While the grand opening was originally set for early June, it’s been hit with delays. Still, officials are pushing hard to have it ready by peak summer. Guerrero is optimistic: “We’re doing everything we can to have boots on the ground by the time the beaches fill up.”
Mayor Luengo doubled down on the message that security sells—not just to families but to big-money investors.
“Tourism thrives on safety. It’s not just about being secure—it’s about looking secure. That’s what keeps visitors coming back and investors signing checks.”
So what’s coming?
- Cells for detainees
- Armory for local police
- Private spaces for victims
- Permanent officer deployment
- Round-the-clock local coverage
With more tourists expected than ever this summer, the San Javier Council is making sure La Manga isn’t just a beach paradise—it’s a fortress of calm.
Looks like sun, sand, and serious security are the new summer trio in town.
