Cieza, Murcia — May 21, 2025. The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia has arrested a well-known repeat offender in connection with the robbery of a mechanic’s workshop in Cieza. The arrest also links the suspect to the theft of a valuable historic moped, which he allegedly tried to sell via social media platforms.

The operation, carried out under the framework of the ‘Safe Commerce Plan’, began after the owner of a local mechanical workshop reported the theft of various tools and computer equipment. According to investigators, the break-in occurred after the suspect forced open the shop’s shutter and shattered the glass door to gain entry. Officers collected physical evidence and fingerprints from the scene.

Following the initial report, agents traced part of the stolen equipment to a second-hand shop, where they recovered several of the stolen items. This discovery led to the identification of a suspect, known to authorities for his criminal history.

During the course of the investigation, a separate incident occurred in Cieza involving the theft of a historic moped — a vehicle of considerable value due to its age and rarity. Investigators soon located the moped being advertised for sale online.

Authorities confirmed that the same individual was responsible for both the attempted sale of the stolen workshop items and the moped, further strengthening the case against him.

The suspect, a 45-year-old man residing in Cieza, has been taken into custody and is facing charges of robbery with force and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The Guardia Civil has confirmed the recovery of several stolen items and continues to investigate whether the suspect may be linked to other crimes in the area.
