Orihuela City Council has launched a tender for a three-year contract to survey beachgoers’ satisfaction across its 11 beaches, with a maximum budget of €36,100. The goal is to collect user feedback and meet quality standards required by the Integrated Beach Management System and the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), which awards the prestigious Blue Flag distinction.
The surveys will be conducted annually between June 15 and September 15, beginning this summer and continuing through the 2026 and 2027 beach seasons. The contract includes an optional one-year extension, bringing the total potential cost to €48,600 (VAT included).
Survey questions will be updated and digitized by the chosen contractor, who must design a system accessible via QR code or link, allowing beachgoers to respond on-site using their mobile devices. The survey will target both residents and tourists across different age groups, with a representative sample based on the size and usage of each beach.
Collected data will be analysed and compiled into a detailed report, due by November 30 each year. The report must include comparisons with past data, identify trends, suggest improvements, and provide beach-specific insights.
Orihuela views its beaches as a key economic driver, and the Tourism Department emphasizes that delivering quality services is essential to maintaining the city’s competitive edge as a tourist destination.
Last year, ten of Orihuela’s eleven beaches were awarded the Blue Flag, making it the municipality with the most in the Valencian Community.
