ALDI continues to strengthen its commitment to fresh, locally-sourced produce. In the past three years, the company has increased its purchases of seasonal Spanish fruit and vegetables by 70%, working closely with more than 50 local suppliers across the country.

This spring alone, ALDI will acquire more than 45,000 tonnes of fresh produce, including 23,000 tonnes of vegetables and 22,000 tonnes of fruit. Key vegetables like green asparagus, artichokes, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and peppers will be sourced from Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, and Castilla y León.

Meanwhile, fruits such as apples, pears, and stone fruit will come from suppliers in Andalusia, Valencia, Murcia, Catalonia, Extremadura, and Castilla y León.

Currently, over 85% of the vegetables and 65% of the fruits available in ALDI stores in Spain are of national origin. This is made possible through the company’s long-standing partnerships with more than 50 local fruit and vegetable producers. All of these suppliers hold certifications in sustainability and good agricultural practices, ensuring a responsible and environmentally conscious value chain.

ALDI’s commitment to local sourcing also reflects its mission to help customers save money without compromising on quality. On fresh products, ALDI customers can save over €258 per year, as the company’s average prices are 12.5% lower than the market average, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel.
