The Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) has announced a €3.3 million tender for the maintenance of urban and peri-urban riverbed sections in various municipalities within the Segura river basin district. This initiative, supported by financial agreements with multiple town councils, aims to enhance riverbed conservation under municipal jurisdiction.
A total of 27 local councils have signed the agreement, with a budget of €3,310,532.94 allocated based on requests from municipal surveyors and confirmed by CHS staff. The participating municipalities include 14 in Murcia, 6 in Albacete, 5 in Alicante, 1 in Almería, and 1 in Jaén. Contracts for Lorquí and Beniel have already been signed.
As Per article 94 of the TRLA, responsibility for public channels in urban areas falls to the Administrations in charge of land use and urban planning, while CHS oversees the public hydraulic domain.
The maintenance work is set to commence in 2025, following the signing of agreements, and will span 24 months, with a possible extension of another 24 months.
