Kindly sponsored once again by Linea Directa, the St Georges Day Triples competition, held at Greenlands, proved most successful, attracting bowlers from far and wide.

There was one team that came up from Indalo in the south and from the north Calpe took the long journey south on what proved to be a day that was a wonderful advert for the game.

La Tercia skip takes aim

However, not everything went to plan with the novices from La Tercia, a club with no real structure and very few members, a club that plays social bowls only, coming out on top of the pile, a pile, incidentally, that included national champions and internationals, but as organiser Pete Bonsor said, “it is the camaraderie that counts, the fact that the competition was fully subscribed, everybody turned up, it went like absolute clockwork and everybody enjoyed their day”.

So well done La Tercia and well done also to the teams that came 2nd and 3rd, Javea Green and Greenlands respectively.

Cluck cluck, came up short again!
