Two important dates for you to mark off on your calender.

  • December 31st 2022 and Sunday May 28th 2023
  • Why are these dates so important?

The first, apart from being New Year’s Eve, is also the final date when you must register your intention to vote in the next local elections.

All you need to do, is just go to the Padron Office in the Town Hall Playa Flamenca AND REGISTER THAT IT IS YOUR INTENTION TO VOTE IN THE NEXT ELECTION AND WANT TO BE INCLUDED ON THE REGISTER.

If you have any problems, then please contact PIOC so we can help correct it.

RIGHT NOW THERE ARE ROUGHLY 9-10 THOUSAND BRITISH EX-PATS LIVING HERE ON THE COAST.

THAT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 9-10 COUNCILLORS TO REPRESENT THE COAST, THAT IS WITHOUT ALL THE OTHER NATIONALITIES VOTING.

Sunday May 28th 2023 is the date of the next elections. That is the date where you decide the future of Orihuela Costa.

PIOC

We can all see the decline in the standards all around the coast. It is impossible to say that there is an area not affected one way or another, notably, the terrible state of the play parks, roads, rubbish etc.

The number of complaints are increasing daily from all nationalities on social media about the state of the area where they live. The overwhelming feeling is that the council has abandoned them, not only their area but Orihuela Costa in general.

Now is the time for businesses, groups, associations and individuals to climbdown off the fence and make their voices heard at the ballot box.

The future of the coast is in our hands, do we want a change or 4 more years of neglect, discrimination, lied to, treated no more than a crucial source of revenue for the council to plunder for their pet projects in Orihuela itself, while the coast is disintegrating around us.

PIOC wants to create a unique list of candidates from the citizens of Orihuela Costa to contest the elections. WHY, because history has showed us that councillors from outside do not care or understand the needs of the coast, regardless that we are the biggest contributor to the council’s revenue by far,

over 55% comes from the coast, that means the other districts between them make up the other 45%, yet we are treated like a colony, a second class nation.

Now is as good a time as ever to register to vote.

WHY? The coalition party C,s popularity, right across Spain is in free fall and is expected to lose heavily here in the next elections.

And if you look at the scandals within the PP party, especially our own PP Mayor who is awaiting his judgment for embezzlement. They are expected to lose a further 2/3 seats in the next election. Therefore, there is so much to gain by coming out and vote next year, 28th May 2023.

Now is the time to unite, moreover, we at PIOC extend an olive branch to associations, groups, businesses and other parties to work together to create a unique list of honest, local residents as our candidates, to get representation from the Coast on the council.

Vote to make a difference! Every vote counts to ensure the residents of the coast have a voice, have a say in their future.
