Using the slogan ‘For trade and a more ecological Torrevieja: No more plastics’, the councillor for Commerce, Manuela Osuna, announced that 10,000 reusable paper bags were to be distributed in the city over Holy Week, in order to raise awareness about the environmental impact produced by the use of plastic.

Specifically, 5,000 were distributed to the many different shops in the municipality with the other 5,000 distributed during the Holy Week processions.

Osuna explained that “the time has come for our city to say no to plastic. It is everyone’s job to make our city healthier. The paper bags are much more sustainable and ecological and we believe that with this type of initiative we can help in raising awareness about the use of less polluting and harmful materials to our environment “.
