If you are looking for a fun night out full of laughter, then look no further than our next
production the Broadway and West End hit show “Anything Goes”.
With words and lyrics by Cole Porter the story is set on board the Ocean liner S.S.
American during the 1930’s (post prohibition) sailing from New York to London. Billy
Crocker is a stowaway and is in love with an American debutante Hope Harcourt.
to add confusion to the farcical plot, she is engaged to be married to Lord Evelyn
Harcourt an English aristocrat. Reno Sweeney, a nightclub singer turned evangelist,
gets involved in the love triangle and attempts to get Billy and Hope together, but will
Elisha J. Whitney an Ivy League Wall Street Banker and Billy Crocker’s boss, is also
on the ship and is unaware that Billy has stowed away. He thinks Billy is on Wall Street
preparing to sell all Whitney’s shares in “Amalgamated Pestrolium” which will make
him a fortune, however things don’t go according to plan.
In the meantime he is travelling to London on board the S.S. American with the intention of attending Henley Regatta to cheer on the Yale University boat crew. The role of Elisha is played by experienced character actor Bill Nicholson (pictured).
