Las Colinas reports to be one of the best courses in the region, today it did not disappoint.  The course was in excellent condition, tee to green. A somewhat reduced field of 33 members and 2 guests turned up to play round four of the society’s Bogeys Shield. A less popular medal format comp.

Some tricky pin positions kept the scoring honest, with only two players shooting a net 70, 1 under par. Gold division produced the best scores of the day. Matt Taylor was top gun, beating Darren Hancock (on Countback) after recovering from an 8 on the first. Only three other players recorded net level par, including a 10 and a 9. Sandbagging chaps?

Captain Tony Smale’s recent handicap chop did not affect him too much, scoring a net 73. The rest of the field tapered away to a distant, wine winning, nett 97! Darren is top of the Bogeys leaderboard with a total score of 219 over three rounds.

The results, by category and in reverse order, were the following:

Bronze Category: 4th Brian Butler (75), 3rd Flaherty (74), 2nd Keith Stevenson (72), 1st Mick Roscoe (71).

Silver Category: 4th Paddy Diskin (79), Mike Kaylor (74), 2nd Brian Mulligan (72), Mike Inns (71).

Gold Category: 4th Tony Smale (73), 3rd Paul Tomlinson (71), 2nd Darren Hancock (70 C/B), 1st Matthew Taylor (70).

Nearest the pins: Hole 5 (G) Darren Hancock. Hole 7 (All) Matt Taylor. 10 (B) Gerald Turner. Hole 14 (S) Mike Kaylor. Hole 17 (All) Andy Crowe.

The Abacus was won by budding wine collector Bob Eyland.
