Our pre-Christmas stableford game ,with a fine turn out once again, started at 10.00am on the local course of La Roda. After a couple of rainy days at the start of the week we were blessed with a glorious day and conditions and a light northerly wind.

We welcomed 5 guests to our day out , some travelling substantial distances !

All players were eligible to play for nearest the par three  pins , longest drive and second shot nearest the pin and the winners were ;    Nearest the pin hole 11 was Graham , a guest of our handicap secretary Vic , and for hole 13 it was Tony Hayman.

The longest drive on hole 3 was won ,with a magnificent drive by the only lady playing in this competition, beating all the hard hitting men, by Ann Geary .

Second shot nearest the 8th pin was won by Ian Price.

There were three prizes for members to compete for .

In third place was Neil Smith with 30.points (h/c 25  )

In second place was Clive Williams with 31 points (h/c 33 )

Overall Winner of the day was Iain Furniss with 35.points (h/c 13  ) The cup was presented by the vice captain , seen on the right.

We all returned to El Fraile , in the village , after the game to meet up with spouses and friends for an excellent steak and ale piel, and presentation.


The winner of this honour must have demonstrated the extra mile either for our society or personal courage in the eyes of adversity and this award takes the form of a samurai sword. This sword was presented to the society 10 years ago and also forms part of our logo. December’s honour was presented to a special lady who is going through some tough times in  hospital at the moment , dealing with the traumas with dignity and fortitude. She is Jackie Greasley,  the wife of Glyn , our vice Captain .The Los Nietos Golf Society wish her a very speedy recovery.
